Session Description: The Missouri PCA recognized the growing need for an entity to coordinate a statewide Partnership made up of participants from system-level health organizations, federal, state, regional, and local entities, regulators, education/training programs/schools, accreditors, health care organizations, professional membership organizations, and groups that have interest in advancing health workforce in our state. In the Spring of 2023, we set out to better understand and substantiate health workforce challenges and to validate the needs for a Partnership. Following a collaborative and strategic process, we identified key stakeholders/partners to form the MPCA Statewide Healthcare Workforce Partnership (Partnership). The purpose of the Partnership is to advance shared interests and joint efforts among organizations throughout the state to identify, develop, and implement best practices that promote recruitment and retention for Value-Based Care (VBC) strategic framework. There are four (4) priority groups of 1) Training and Education; 2) Recruitment; 3) Retention; and 4) Policy and Innovation. Each group works on a set of priority recommendations and action plans that are rooted in the principles of 1) Promoting a shared vision for recruiting and retaining Missouri’s health workforce 2) Advancing health equity by promoting and assuring all planning strategies, actions, and implementation steps are Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) centered; 3)Integrating Social Determinants of Health into education, training, technical assistance, and resource sharing.; and 4) Support and encourage partners to work together to advance the common good and assure each effort has potential to make a real difference and impact.
