Session Description: In April 2023, there was a record high of 94 million people on Medicaid. In the 18 months since then, more than 12 million people had their Medicaid coverage terminated. For Health Centers, the reduction in the number of Medicaid patients has impacted their bottom line and their patients’ ability to access health care.
This session will highlight the perspective of a health center Chief Executive Officer who employed creative strategies for managing the Medicaid unwinding process and who is creating a new normal for conducting outreach and enrollment activities. This session will describe how the Medicaid Unwinding impacted the Health Center’s financial bottom line and how they’ve attempted to capture lost Medicaid revenue, strengthen their workforce, engage in marketing and outreach strategies to retain patients, and re-organized operational processes and workflows to address the impacts of the Medicaid Unwinding
